Mind the Gap

Amidst the gaping gap between the static platform
And the moving train, always have I felt lost.
As I moved towards dynamic destination
An invisible voice reminded me to mind the gap.
A cold hand touched my shoulders and made me shiver
As I looked down, the darkness beneath seemed devouring
And the dynamism was lost in demonic designs
Stood I quietly like a snowed statue on a lonely land.

We all perhaps stand on a platform not very predictable
The gaps widen slowly in our relation, and as the time flows
Loved ones are lost in our misunderstood understanding.
People these days talk about gaps everywhere, every now and then
Differences widen between “us” and “them”, eye-contact is lost
‘Cause the journey to joy is never commenced for the barrier
That has kept us apart from one another, tranquility is lost in terror
Fraternity in the fear of Frankenstein’s furor.

No one reminds of the irritating gaps of irrationalism
That have put the poor on the other side of the platform
They know not their destinations, wait in fear and agony
Lest they step into the gap where the abyss of darkness abound
They move back into a probable peace of never-ending poverty
And the gap remains, mind it or not, though we know
May Day has turned into a myth of the past
But the haves and have-nots are still poles apart.
